Tribute to the Life of Kayleigh Weston

I was honoured to be asked to complete a double pencil portrait commission of their late daughter, Kayleigh, and grandson, Ethan.

The composition includes Kayleigh’s love of butterflies and their beauty. Her parents, Mr & Mrs Weston explained that she loved butterflies so much that she had a tattoo on her neck.

While developing the composition, I also learned that butterflies are not only beautiful, but also have throughout history been considered a mysterious, symbolic and meaningful. Some cultures use butterflies as a metaphor representing spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope and life.

It is believed the magnificent, yet short life of the butterfly closely mirrors the process of spiritual transformation and serves to remind us that life is short.

I have included the stages of the portrait development. I hope you like it?

Mr Weston shared his thoughts and I was deeply moved. He said, “A beautiful portrait of our truly missed daughter Kayleigh and her son Ethan. Dearly loved mother, daughter and sister. Precious memories. Rest easy Kayleigh xxxx.

Thank you so much Gavin for giving us so much back to us of kayleigh.
